Studio

Founded in 2015, Adam Markowitz Design is a cross-disciplinary practice where finely crafted architecture is complimented with hand-made furniture & lighting. From our combined workshop & architectural studio in Northcote, we revel in the joy of materials and a passion for physicality in design.

Led by Adam Markowitz, an award-winning Architect and furniture & lighting Designer/Maker. He has attended schools of design & craft in Australia, Denmark, The Netherlands and the US.

Exposed in those schools to fine craft and traditional joinery alongside contemporary design, he has developed a design philosophy that values the intimate connection between design and fabrication, and the new opportunities found at the intersection of modern digital processes and traditional methods of craftsmanship.

His work can be found in collections both in Australia and internationally. Markowitz has taught the experimental furniture design program as part of the Master of Architecture at The University of Melbourne, as well as at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine, USA. He is the current Vice President of the Victorian Woodworkers Association.
